WILDFLOWER
CHINA
The 53 piece set -- the only known complete set in existence
-- depicts Texas bluebonnets and wildflowers and was commissioned
from Wedgwood, the famous English china manufacturer, by
an unknown group to commemorate the 1936 Texas Centennial.
The initial order was placed in May 1935 via the New York
office under the management of Kennard L. Wedgwood. The
pattern designer was E. Overton Jones, a Wedgwood salesman
in the 1930s, and the pattern was sold exclusively by Neiman
Marcus. It is on display in the Lieutenant Governor's Reception
Room.
