The O. Henry Room |
|
| This
room salutes the General Land Office's most famous draftsman,
William Sydney Porter, who would later enjoy success as
the famed short story writer O. Henry. The exhibit focuses
on Porter's life in Texas. Visitors can view the spiral
staircase made famous in Bexar Scrip #2692 (Murder
at the Land Office) upon entering the exhibit. By
way of old-fashioned phones, visitors are invited to select
and listen to condensed versions of O. Henry stories that
use the General Land Office building as a backdrop. |
